Music Newsletter Article 5/30/06 for Saint
Philip's
Music at Saint Philip's
Our
choir season has come to an end, giving our choir a well deserved
rest. The choir provides leadership for the hymns and the
ordinaries, and they present a weekly anthem as well. To do this,
the members
rehearse two hours each week. We are grateful for their
significant and
sustained weekly contribution, and we appreciate their beautiful
music.
Thank you to Diane Slezek, Liz Pinard, Elizabeth Sites, Janet Couch,
Marge Monat, Bonnie Katusich, Beverly Ann Howe, Alex Vanderburgh, and
Dick Gregory.
The organ is in good repair. Bill Czelusniak tuned the
instrument successfully in April, and he was back recently to repair
significant wind leakage in the pedal wind chest. The deepest
pitches of
the organ are now strong, and there are no more rushing sounds of
escaping air. It is a great joy to have the organ in excellent
condition, with all of its resources available. Thank you to Dick Frary
for supporting this work entirely.
We have been blessed by members of the choir who step forward from time
to time to sing a solo, small or large. We have heard
Diane Slezek, Liz Pinard, Janet Couch, and Bonnie Katusich. Diane
offered an aria from Handel's Messiah. There are always
opportunities
to sing, including during the Summer. We have opportunities for
instrumentalists too. Please consider making a contribution,
especially during the Summer when we are without anthems. Your
music will be appreciated.
As we come to summer sports, the question comes to mind "Tenors anyone?"
