Spiritual Minute

Gail Reddin – October 28, 2007

About two years ago I wrote a poor, poor, pitiful email to a group of friends talking about how I was lonely with no family, I was having financial difficulties, I had no job, my car was old and beat up, etc.  Thanksgiving and Christmas were difficult for me because my family is dead.  I was living in New Haven, Connecticut.

Shortly after that, a friend who lives in Northampton MA saw a presentation at First Church on The Treehouse Foundation who had a project here in Easthampton MA.  She sent me an email with the website.  I got excited because The Treehouse is a multigenerational community, supportive of foster children.

I feel that God led me here.  I was familiar with the area.  I was born in Greenfield MA, and had gone to Northampton School for Girls for four years.

I sold my condo, and moved seventy-five miles across the state lines.  At 58 years old, this was difficult for me.  I had lived in CT for 50+ years.  Even in this economic environment I was able to sell my condo and do everything else that was required, all with God’s help.

I was living in an urban environment that wasn’t always safe.  Now I’m living at The Treehouse with lots of children who have adopted me.  Now I have my Treehouse family and I live in Easthampton.  It’s a safe place.  God led me here.
